Ecotrans Car Rentals began on May 19, 1994 with the purchase of a second-hand Mitsubishi L-300 Versa Van from Manila. On May 25, 1994 the first official booking of the company was recorded. Initially, convincing clients to patronize the company was difficult considering the limited resources and experience of the company. Complaints received were that our van was old and the aircon was not as strong as in the newer vans. Yet, the company overcame these initial hurdles and moved on to bigger projects.
The company’s first big break came about with the implementation of the design phase of the Davao airport expansion project. This was undertaken by DMJM International (a Multi-National Company based in the United States). Through no easy effort the company was awarded a contract to provide one sedan for the lead project consultant for a month or two. Eventually, the contract lasted for more than two years and involved a service requiring six vehicles for most of that time.
After this initial project, the company was able to secure other projects with a number of multinational firms over the years. The fleet has grown from a single van in 1994 to as many as 25 vehicles of various makes and models. These vehicles range from a basic Toyota Altis Sedan to a Toyota Hi-lux 4WD Double Cab Pick-up all the way up to a Toyota Hi Ace Grandia Van. The company presently has 31 employees to serve the needs of our clients. The choice of vehicles has basically been dictated by the needs of our various clients. Our clients have come from diverse fields, the mining industry, the construction industry and even the pharmaceutical industry to name a few.
Over the years, the company has evolved into a transportation arm for a number of corporate entities. However, we still continue to serve clients from the tourism industry. In fact, the company operates a shuttle service for one of the popular international resorts in Davao. As of today, the company has sold off it’s older vehicles but, continues to be able to support a large number of bookings at one time. In fact, we have operated as many as 100 vehicles over a number of days. This is due to a number of non-pool vehicles that have become affiliated with the company.
We have always endeavored to be a truly service oriented company. Our motto, “Travel With More For Less” is the embodiment of our desire to give our clients their most comfortable experience in terms of travelling by land. In the near future, we hope to become the standard by which all other car rental companies are measured. From there we look to offer our brand of service not only to the rest of Mindanao but, to the rest of the Philippines and the world as well.
